My name is Lothar Schafroth and together with my wife Sigrid, we operate the German Cuckoo Clock Nest in Gallery Walk on Tamborine Mountain, which is located in the magnificent hinterland of Queensland’s Gold Coast.
Originally from the Black Forest and the Blue Danube regions of Germany, we have been settled in Australia for over thirty years. Our involvement with German clocks and articles has been and still is part of our heritage and livelihood.
The story of making cuckoo clocks in the Black Forest can be traced back to the early 1600’s. Today the clock makers in Germany combine the century-old craft of the Black Forest clockmakers with new ideas, to bring to you traditional and modern clocks.
The German Cuckoo Clock Nest is an extremely large importer of German Clocks into Australia. Our store; built in the tradition of a German Bavarian Chalet with authentic waterwheel, has become one of the most famous tourist attractions on Tamborine Mountain.
